Water volume and temperature portable measuring system

Portable, fast and robust solution

Handy, fast and robust portable Water measuring system for fast determination of the water content and temperature in sand, gravel and other inert materials used in the construction industry such as cement factories, quarries and in waste disposal and composting plants.

Description

The instrument provides two parameters: the volumetric percentage of water content and the number of liters of water present per m3, it is also able to measure the water content of one kg of material with a single measurement.

Depending on the application, it is possible to choose up to 15 specific calibration values of the selectable materials.

In configuration mode, the user can characterize his material by storing the curve and enter its density (kg / dm3), a parameter necessary to obtain the correct gravimetric water content. After a few seconds of measurement, the system shows the average values as a result.

  • Handy portable system;
  • Determination of volumetric or gravimetric percentage of water content;
  • Calculation of the number of liters of water present per m3;
  • Soil temperature measurement;
  • Up to 15 selectable calibration curves to obtain the correct gravimetric water content;
  • Quick measurement of water content (3″ response time);
  • Model code: DQA345.

Why measure water content in materials throughout the waste management cycle?

Water content is an important parameter in the management and treatment of waste, compost and bulk materials, as it can change during different processing stages and affect material characteristics. The LSI LASTEM portable system allows measurements to be carried out directly at the facility, providing fast checks of water content and temperature at different locations or on different samples.

In which waste management applications can the LSI LASTEM portable system be used?

The DQA345 can be used in waste treatment and composting facilities for periodic checks of material moisture during different management and processing stages. Its portability makes it easy to move the instrument between piles, storage areas or different points within the facility and take measurements directly on the material. It can also be used to check other bulk and inert materials.

How does the DQA345 measure water content and temperature in materials?

The DQA345 uses TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology to determine material water content while simultaneously measuring temperature. Water content can be expressed as a volumetric percentage, gravimetric percentage or, when material density is known, in litres of water per m³. The system can also use up to 15 specific calibration curves for different materials.

Does LSI LASTEM also offer sensors for permanent compost and biofilter monitoring?

Yes. In addition to the DQA345 portable system for rapid checks, LSI LASTEM offers more robust wireless sensors designed for long-term installation inside compost piles and biofilters. These solutions continuously monitor material parameters without requiring repeated manual measurements, making it possible to track their evolution and assess the efficiency of composting and biofilter treatment processes over time. Portable measurements and permanent monitoring can therefore address complementary requirements within the same facility.
