With climate change further exacerbating the problem, environmental monitoring becomes essential to ensure occupational safety in this area.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To address this issue, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitus.it\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Tuscia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has launched a research <\/span><b>project <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aimed at <\/span><b>monitoring <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>heat stress <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>agricultural workers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The goal is to collect accurate data and calculate microclimatic indices in real time to develop effective prevention strategies, improving working conditions in the sector.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-320ce95 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"320ce95\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The project for the monitoring of heat stress\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ec278df elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ec278df\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative of the University of Tuscia is part of the <\/span><b>national <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/agritechcenter.it\/it\/\"><b>Agritech<\/b><\/a><b> project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is<\/span><b> financed by the PNRR fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It has installed a<\/span><b> fixed weather station <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">specifically designed <\/span><b>for monitoring thermal stress<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for the continuous control of environmental conditions in the open field and in greenhouses, equipped with sensors for measuring air temperature and humidity, globe temperature and wet bulb temperature. The system calculates the <\/span><b>WBGT <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) <\/span><b>index <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in accordance with ISO 7243:2017 and transmits the data to a remote server for analysis and reporting, triggering alarms via SMS and e-mail if risk thresholds are exceeded. For temporary monitoring, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsi-lastem.com\/products\/portable-wireless-wbgt-meter-heat-shield\/\"><b>portable weather station<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for <\/span><b>microclimatic monitoring <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was provided, easily transportable and installable on a tripod, battery-powered with the option of a solar panel for greater autonomy. It also calculates the WBGT index and the Heat Index, sending alarms in real time. Finally, the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsi-lastem.com\/products\/alpha-log\/\"><b>Alpha-Log<\/b><\/a><b> data logger<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ensures the acquisition, storage and transmission of data, integrating various advanced communication options and alert systems for the safety of workers.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a48ab5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4a48ab5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Future applications and benefits of monitoring\n\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-caf6aeb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"caf6aeb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"vc-row-wrapper vc_custom_1591465382087\" data-parallax_sense=\"30\"><div class=\"wpb_row row\"><div class=\"twelve columns vc-column-extra-class-669e794d019ae\" data-parallax_sense=\"30\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The information collected by <\/span><b>WBGT weather stations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is used not only for the immediate prevention of heat stress, but also to develop new technologies to support workers. This project not only contributes to the safety of agricultural workers, but also paves the way for new solutions to address the problem of heat waves in other particularly exposed sectors, such as ensuring the protection of the health of those who work daily in increasingly extreme climatic
