The goal of the system is to adjust the mathematical model of\u00a0weather forecasting<\/strong>\u00a0and obtain\u00a0detailed information<\/strong>\u00a0about the\u00a0conditions of pavements<\/strong>\u00a0(runways, aircraft parking areas, roads system).<\/p>

The airport maintenance departments, can now be informed\u00a0on real time of weather conditions<\/strong>, concerning:<\/p>

  • Wind Speed and Direction<\/li>
  • Temperature and Relative Humidity<\/li>
  • Irradiance<\/li>
  • Type of precipitation (rain, sleet, snow, hail , etc.).<\/li>
  • Rain intensity<\/li><\/ul>

    Furthermore maintenance departments can better manage the cleaning vehicle fleet (salt spreaders, snowplow, chemical treatment units) with the following information:<\/p>

    • Snow level<\/li>
    • Surface and underground temperatures<\/li>
    • Road conditions (dry, wet, frozen)<\/li>
    • Height of Water Film<\/li>
    • Freezing Temperature Forecast (both active and passive method)<\/li><\/ul>

      The complete supply includes\u00a010 monitoring stations<\/strong>. Each station transmits its measurements to the airport control room (Directorate of Maintenance Operations) via fiber optic connections.
