This standard aims to globally harmonise the process of reporting airport runway conditions, eliminating complexity and replacing various existing methods. This approach introduces\u00a0<b>key parameters\u00a0<\/b>such as:<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\">The\u00a0<b>runway condition code RWYCC<\/b>, a variable from 0 to 6, indicating runway conditions in relation to the type and amount of contaminants present;<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">The\u00a0<b>type of contaminant<\/b>, i.e. standardised descriptions of the type of contamination present on the runway, taken from a list of 15 descriptors for climate contamination;<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">The assessment of\u00a0<b>contaminant depth<\/b>\u00a0greater than 3 mm for certain types of contaminants (standing water, hail, dry snow and wet snow);<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">The percentage of\u00a0<b>contaminant coverage<\/b>\u00a0to be reported within predefined ranges such as 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the third of the runway.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1bce565 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1bce565\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">ATLAS: a revolution in aviation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-037c7f8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"037c7f8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The GRF integrates seamlessly with\u00a0<b>ATLAS<\/b>, a complete solution that\u00a0<b>automates<\/b>\u00a0the\u00a0<b>detection\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>measurement\u00a0<\/b>of required\u00a0<b>parameters\u00a0<\/b>without the need to close the runway. The system, combining advanced hardware and software, represents a turning point in aviation safety.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5629069 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5629069\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Installation of ATLAS at Malpensa and Linate<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed4b3b7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ed4b3b7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>LSI LASTEM has successfully completed the installation of ATLAS at\u00a0<b>Linate\u00a0<\/b>airport, with one runway, and\u00a0<b>Malpensa<\/b>, with two runways.<b>\u00a0Each runway<\/b>\u00a0is equipped with\u00a0<b>18 sensors<\/b>\u00a0equally distributed on the asphalt and divided into\u00a0<b>three sections<\/b>. Each section is\u00a0<b>monitored\u00a0<\/b>by a\u00a0<b>monitoring station\u00a0<\/b>with six sensors, positioned halfway between the centre line and the edge of the runway. These sensors provide essential data on asphalt temperature, contaminant type and contaminant thickness. The three data acquisition stations on the sides of the runway ensure\u00a0<b>reliable\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>real-time<\/b>\u00a0<b>transmission\u00a0<\/b>of information.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3594551 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3594551\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Advanced sensors for runway monitoring<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba39d6c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ba39d6c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The system consists of a\u00a0<b>complete weather station<\/b>, equipped with environmental sensors, a\u00a0<b>visibility sensor\u00a0<\/b>and several\u00a0<b>pavement condition sensors<\/b>. These include:<\/p><p><b>Compact weather sensor:<\/b>\u00a0measures air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation and visibility, discriminating types of contaminants and transitions between pavement conditions.<\/p><p><b>Floor sensor:\u00a0<\/b>detects specific contaminants and their depth. 2 to 6 sensors are recommended for every third of the runway.<\/p><p><b>Snow level sensor:<\/b>\u00a0identifies the presence of snow and measures the level of the snowpack, recognising contaminants and transitions. This application, already operational and\u00a0<b>accessible from the Malpensa Control Room<\/b>, allows the real-time display of crucial information such as ice warnings on the runway, GRF parameters and additional data such as air temperature and friction coefficient.
